The new 18,000-seat state-of-the-art Newark/New Jersey Devils Arena is the centerpiece of the city’s Downtown Core Redevelopment Project, a proposed commercial complex of retail shops, hotels, office buildings and parking decks. The 700,000 square-foot, $310 million sports and entertainment arena is intended to restore Newark as a major regional destination.
KS Engineers, P.C. (KSE), as a subconsultant to The Thornton-Tomasetti Group, provided foundation design, shop drawing review and construction support services for the entire arena complex. The foundations of the arena complex were design as spread footings on improved in-situ soil. Dynamic compaction were utilized to improve the existing soils to the required bearing capacity.
KSE also provided shop drawings review and construction monitoring and structural representative services for the design consultant.
