  • PROJECT DESCRIPTION

KS Engineers, P.C. (KSE) performed Final Scope Development Services for this drainage improvement project that was led by T & M Associates.

KSE was responsible for the establishment of horizontal and vertical control, topographic and utility survey, subsurface geotechnical exploration program, preparation of Geotechnical Foundation Engineering Report, and Pavement Design Report. The pavement recommendation included thickness of subbase, base and wearing course, and design of new pavement box as per NJDOT procedures.

The project raised the profile of Route 36 in this area by up to five feet.  KSE’s design of the new embankment and pavement section required an innovative approach that did not increase the existing over burden because of very poor existing soil conditions which includes a clay strata.  A solution of excavation of a portion of the existing fill and placement of lightweight fill in a ratio that did not increase the over burden was developed.
