PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Final design and construction assistance services for this new 2,000-sq-ft railroad station complex on a seven-acre site, located opposite to the Kean University campus in Union, NJ, included a high-level center island platform, passenger elevator, station building, 420-space parking lot, pedestrian access tunnel under the tracks, realignment of existing trackage, a railroad bridge at Morris Avenue, and installation of new signals and communications, gauntlet tracks, and CCTV and signage. KS Engineers, P.C. (KSE) was engaged to provide final design and construction support services. KSE’s scope included:
All civil design for the seven-acre site, including 420-vehicle parking facility, grading and drainage, detention basin, on-site geometrics, signing and striping, and pavement design
Design of off-site improvements along Green Street and at the Green Street entrance to Kean University (traffic analysis of existing intersection, revision of an existing traffic signal at Kean University entrance, revision of existing pavement markings and signage, roadway/curb reconstruction, pavement milling, profiles and cross sections, and signage and striping).
