  • PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Carroll Gordon has been involved in playground design as it has evolved over the years.  As a student and employee of the playground design pioneer, M. Paul Friedberg, Carroll has a strong base in the observation and theory of play and interaction as well as the design and construction of the equipment itself.

From the original Timberform wood designs developed by M. Paul Friedberg to the metal post and platform designs through the current three dimensional play habitats, Carroll has utilized the latest thinking in all of her ten playground designs.

Carroll has the realistic experience of supervising the installation of several playgrounds.  Coordinating the sometimes conflicting desires of parents, teachers, principals and school administrators is just part of the job when designing playgrounds.  Paramount at all times is the safety as well as the pleasure and learning experience of the children using the equipment.  Making this all come together within the site and cost constraints of a given playground is the true challenge.
