KS Engineers, P.C. (KSE) has been retained by New Jersey Transit as a prime consultant for this assignment, to provide in-depth inspection and structural ratings for 32 NJ Transit Undergrade Bridges. 

The bridges to be inspected are located on the Boonton Line, Montclair Line and Morristown Line.  The bridges comprised concrete-arch, concrete-box, concrete-slab, stone-arch, and through-girder-type and deck-girder structures. KSE had previously developed a comprehensive Bridge Information System (BIS) for NJ Transit that was also utilized on this project.  As the prime consultant, KSE isresponsible for the following services:

• In-depth structural inspection including hands-on inspection of all fracture-critical members
• Inspection of ties, rails, and approach embankments
• Cooper E load-rating using maximum and normal ratings
• Preparation of detail reports using NJ Transit “Inspection Report Format” and criteria
• Cost estimates for major repair and maintenance items
• Recommendations of the useful service life of each structure under current conditions.
