KS Engineers, P.C. (KSE) performed civil, roadway, and utility design as a subconsultant to The Washington Group on the HBLRTS SOS Project.
Scope of the work for this project consisted of roadway design work for the reconstruction/construction of approximately 15 streets. Work included demolition and replacement of existing roadway features such as signage, signaling, curbs, sidewalks, retaining walls, fencing and guardrails, abandoned utilities as well as design of new utilities and drainage features, relocation of existing utilities, and roadway pavement/resurfacing.
Civil work included design of mass excavations and fills; placement, removal and stockpiling of ROW track surcharge including wick drains, piezometers and settlement plates; placement of structural and lightweight fills; protection slabs over existing utilities; installation of new drainage including concrete, stone and grass ditches, trench drains, concrete headwalls, box culverts, and five outfalls; precast manholes and RCP culverts; system wide duct bank, TPSS duct bank, and PSE&G connections to the traction power substations.
